Welcome to Nicky's Crossdressing Guide

"Why do you need a guide to crossdress?" I hear you cry. Surely it's just a matter of pulling on your wife's best sunday dress and mincing around!

Well, I think there's slightly more to it and although I am no expert - I have yet to have had any bad "outings" and maybe I can give you a few tips I've picked up on the way.

Men have many different bits and pieces that will shout our lack of feminity - no matter how much we think otherwise. The secret I feel is to diguise these things and to give the public what they want to see.

For example; consisder the following picture I took of myself recently.

I'm no oil painting
but at first glance I feel I would pass!

So what makes you passable? The truth is, up close nothing will - somone will always be able able to see through your disguise. So before they get that chance - make sure they see as normal a look as possible.

There are always times that we want to wear short skirts and blonde wigs but it you want to mix in public I suggest a more conservative approach.

For the crossdressers who have to remain hairy.

Bummer isn't it? The one really obvious difference between boys and girls is the amount of body hair - and those of us with male genes loose out every time!

But there are a few ways around it.

I've start from the feet - Wear boots girls! High heels / low heels - it just doesn't matter, but they will cover up many of those unsightly hairs without you getting the razor out!

Long skirts - again hide everything; combine the boots and skirt and you can wear thin tights or stocking without worry.

Personally; I don't like opaque tights much - but they are an alternative if you can't get boots and worth considering.

Top - for those with hairy chests wear a cowl neck top or similar - make sure its long sleeved. This will cover those hairy arms as well.

One thing that used to irritate me was my hairy hands. I now shave and epilate them but before I did this I solved the hairy wrist and hand problem by wearing "tubigrip" bandages over those areas (see above). It's quite common to see people with medical dressings for various reasons and just as a bonus - people often hold doors open for you as well when they see your bandaged wrists!

For the mostly hairless crossdressers

Different story for us but we will still have work hard to "fit in".

Look at how girls around you present themselves. Never show more skin than they do and for us from the UK unless you have a great tan - wear tights / stockings. Trust me; girls notice white legs from a mile away and instead of fitting in you will stand out totally without hoisery!

The male waist can be a real problem. Mine is, years of too much junk food!

My solution is to revisit the 80's - get a wide (dark) belt - it provides the opitical illusion of a waist where one may not exist!

V - necked top can help flatter your line and narrow your shoulders. Just make sure it doesn't show too much skin unless you have something there worth seeing!

Wig - a must of course. Don't go over the top, wear a colour that is close to your "normal" colour; hopefully your skin shade and eyebrows will then blend in.

Face - I find glasses so important. I bought a pair of low resolution specs a few years ago and they have served me so well!

They instantly feminise the face as well as magnifying the eyes as well as also helping to hide the eyebrows.

Jewellery - good news girls, more is better (but not too much!). Most women wear necklaces etc so why should we be different? Also, giving a V-shape to your neck line as the similar effect as described above with V-neck tops.

Above - earrings, below - necklace

Below - rings

Makeup - well like any girl this is down to the individual. But again, I would suggest conservative is better.

Foundation - probably the most makeup I use to cover the tell-tale beard grow. No way around this - I use Pan-Stick from Max Factor. The best (affordable) foundation I've found so far but if anyone has any better suggestions I would be pleased to hear from you.

Nails - I'm a sucker for painted nails. Basically I'm a nail varnish tart! But remember girls if you paint your nails the darker colours will discolur you own nail if you leave it on too long. So remove often and leave you nails to rest a while before reapllying.

Lipstick - I like lipgloss as the shine from the gloss takes the attention of anyone looking at you away from the foundation coated skin and onto the lips. Remember to practice your pout girls!

Mascara and eyes - Practice with eyeliner. I now find it essential, especially below the eye as I find it makes the eye look bigger. Mascara will also open up your eyes and should always be applied. Eyeshadow is your call - just not too bright and learn to blend!

Cheeks - most of us don't have cheekbones and no amount of blusher will create this illusion! So just a hint of blusher on the cheeks and let the rest of your face tell the story!

Finally - attitude!

Remember. You are not doing anything wrong - so walk with confidence! It's so easy to get all tarted up and then get cold feet at the eleventh hour - I know I still get this at times!

But as I said - you have every right to dress how you want and as long as you aren't causing harm to anyone else - you go girl!!!!

I hope the above helps some of you; any comments or suggestions more than welcome!
